From academia to analytical chemistry: Oliver Ingham’s journey with Kindeva

When Oliver Ingham joined Kindeva in 2020, he was looking for a place to apply his academic experience in a hands-on, collaborative environment. Having recently completed a PhD focused on brain tumor chemotherapy drugs, he was ready to move from research into industry and explore analytical chemistry in a new context.

Oliver remembers “I came from an academic background. I completed a PhD, where I researched chemotherapeutics for the treatment of Glioblastoma. As part of the project, we attempted to optimize the efficacy of the chemotherapy agents by modifying their chemical structure.”

That scientific foundation prepared him well for his next step.

“After completing my PhD, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in analytical chemistry. While searching for jobs, I came across Kindeva, and what really caught my attention was the opportunity to work with pMDIs within the field of analytical chemistry.”

Building experience and taking on new challenges

Oliver’s career with Kindeva began as a contractor performing routine lab work. Within months, his commitment and adaptability earned him a permanent position. Since then, he has taken on increasing responsibility each year, growing into a lead analyst role within analytical development services.

“I joined Kindeva in 2020 as a contractor, doing routine lab work and assessing drug content. After three or four months I was made permanent, and since then I’ve taken on more and more responsibility each year, which has led me to my current role coordinating some of the analytical testing with the department.”

Today, he coordinates analytical studies, manages method development and validation activities, and works closely with teams across departments to maintain quality and compliance.

“A typical day at Kindeva is always different, with new challenges to tackle. Some days are more technical problem solving, while others focus on more routine analytical testing. My role involves coordinating some of the analytical studies that come through our department, as well as supporting the method development and validation work we carry out.”

Variety, challenge and collaboration

For Oliver, the most rewarding part of his work is the diversity of challenges and the team around him.

“What I like best about my job is the variety of challenges it offers. Working in the pMDI space means every day brings something different, and I really enjoy the problem-solving aspect of what I do.”

That sense of discovery and collaboration has kept him engaged for five years.

“What I value most about working at Kindeva is the people I get to work with. We have an incredible team with so much knowledge and experience, and that makes every challenge more rewarding.”

This blend of technical depth and supportive teamwork embodies the culture that allows people at Kindeva to thrive and evolve in their roles.

Recognition and achievement

Oliver’s dedication has already led to professional recognition.

“My biggest achievement to date is having a publication accepted at the Respiratory Drug Delivery conference. I was also given the opportunity to travel to Portugal to present it.”

That milestone reflects both his scientific rigor and the encouragement Kindeva gives its people to share their expertise with the wider industry.

Advice for new starters

Reflecting on his own experience, Oliver emphasizes the importance of connection and collaboration.

“The main advice I’d give to anyone starting a career at Kindeva is to build a strong network, not just within your department but across the company. It makes your life much easier when you know who to turn to for specific challenges.”

His perspective captures what makes Kindeva’s environment so distinctive: a place where expertise is shared freely and professional development happens through everyday teamwork.
